Working as part of the Software Team, you will help to further develop the WTL Connected Worker platform. This involves both real time monitoring of workers to detect, alert and respond to immediate risks to their safety, as well as analysis of historical data to manage workers’ exposure to long term risks to their health.

Frontend / API Developer Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work alone and collaborate with your team in designing “best in class” software deliverables.
  • Developing high quality front end solutions with HTML, CSS, Javascript & Angular.
  • Develop scripts and test tools to support your work.
  • Work with other team members to solve problems in both a planned and “ad-hoc” manner.
  • Participate in Agile stand-up and code reviews.

You will have experience in:

  • HTML, CSS, front-end JavaScript, JSON
  • Solid Javascript development skills (Angular.js & Node.js)
  • Coding version control (Git)
  • RESTful API usage
  • SQL relational databases (MySql / MariaDb)
  • Experience of working in UX/UI
  • Object-oriented application design

The following experience is desirable:

  • REST API design
  • NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Serverless cloud application architecture
  • IoT-based communication (e.g. AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT)

The Role:

The Company is looking to recruit Front-End / API Developers to work as part of our Software Team to develop our AWS cloud hosted platform. This is a full-time position. The team is based at our HQ office in Enderby, Leicestershire UK. You will be given flexibility to work in a hybrid manner, but must be prepared and able to attend the office when needed.  You will report to the Software Manager and be part of the wider R&D team, which also includes hardware, firmware, mechanical design and garment integration technology, which allows WTL to develop the entire end-to-end solution in-house.

Objective:

Working as part of the Software Team, you will help to further develop the WTL Connected Worker platform. This involves both real time monitoring of workers to detect, alert and respond to immediate risks to their safety, as well as analysis of historical data to manage workers’ exposure to long term risks to their health. WTL currently differentiates itself in the market by offering a device agnostic platform, onto which any sensor manufacturer’s devices can be attached.  By offering our customers the widest range of sensor devices to select and connect to, we can collect the broadest data sets and deliver the richest data analytics and insights to those customers.  These sensors include those that can monitor gas, noise, dust, vehicle proximity, and physiological vital signs.

WTL is recruiting a team that is motivated by working on cutting edge technology with device partners  working on solving challenging problems and working in a tight-knit team of multidisciplinary engineers. As one of the team’s software developers, you will be responsible for gathering data from streamed by an array of remote sensors and presenting it to the user is a logical and meaningful manner, and for the transmission of that data for further analysis and generation of actionable insights.

The WTL Connected Worker platform architecture consists of one or more wearable devices on each worker, wirelessly connected to a common cloud computing and storage system. At each individual worker there is local data collection, storage and processing, as well as near real time communication with other workers, on-site supervisors, and remote management. At the cloud there is remote data collection, storage and processing of individual and aggregate worker data, as well as integration with other business systems and 3rd parties.
